Welcome
To overcome the barriers which women politicians face from the predominantly male dominated political environment in which they operate, there is need for change in the way women relate or are perceived within and outside political structures, the way and manner they seek power and the kind of politics they foster through their participation.
This project aims to promote gender equity in politics and transformative leadership in six states of South West Nigeria through research/documentation, capacity building and awareness creation. It will foster constructive engagement between women politicians and other stakeholders/targets (media, party leadership, community groups, elected officials) in order to collectively identify and minimize the mistakes of the past as well as create an identity for women as champions of issues-oriented politics and transformative leadership, thereby considerably enhancing their chances in the 2007 general election.
